The U14 Football season came to a close with a high scoring defeat in Rostrevor 0-23 to 5-5. Curtis Flanagan in goals and Eoin Killen at centre field were in great form for An Riocht and the whole team played tried their best. Thanks to the players and parents for their effort and support all year.

 

The U18 Camogie won the league with a 4-8 to 4-6 victory over Clonduff in Hilltown, well done.

 

Carnival Promotions Magic Show and the First Aid for Kids workshop brought the Summer Scheme to a fun and educational conclusion last week.

 

The U14 Camogie match An Riocht v Ballyholland did not take place due to the terrible weather conditions on Tuesday.

 

The U18 ‘B’FC An Riocht v Annaclone did not take place as An Riocht could muster only nine available players on Tuesday evening.

 

It took a last minute goal from Christopher Flanagan for An Riocht to best Bosco 2-10 to 3-4 in the U16 ‘A’FC in Newry on Thursday.

 

The Men’s Shed enjoyed a ferry trip to Cooley Men’s Shed & lunch on Friday past.

 

The Senior Footballers lost in Longstone 0-18 to 2-15 on Friday.

 

Six juvenile camogie and football teams departed Dunavil on Saturday morning to play in blitzes and tournaments, thanks to the coaches and parents who travelled with those eighty young players.

 

At the P1 to P6 Camogie Blitzes in Kilcoo, we played Mayobridge, Ballyholland, Ballygalget, Aghaderg, Drumaness, Clonduff and Darragh Cross. Players: Aoife Rooney Annie McAleenan, Anna Quinn, Zoe Gannon, Emma Harper, Nicole Curran, Annalise White, Molly Sloan, Sarah Hughes, Olivia Fegan. Cara O’Neill, Ellie Cousins, Eimear Sloan, Ciara Fearon, Annie Cordell, Grace Hughes, Siofra Cahill and Cliona Finnegan.

 

At the P3/P4 Football Tournament in Keady, our boys reached the Final of the Brendan Kilroy Shield. We had two teams who played matches with Crossmaglen Rangers, Warrenpoint, Keady, Emyvale, Pearse Og, Derrynoose and Madden, Players:Corey Greene, James Cunningham, JD Flannagan, Shea Trainor, Brandon McComiskey, Jake Collins, Karson Kearney, Tommy Eakins, Jack Rodgers, Cian Doyle, Dara McMillan, Eoghan Timms, Jack Harper, Aaron Curran, Marc McDonald, Finn Rafferty, Darragh Curran, Finley Spiers, Dylan Timms, Shaun Trainor, Josh Colgan and Katie Keenan.

At the P5/P6 Football Tournament in Atticall we had two teams who played Liatroim, Eire Og Armagh, Atticall, Mullaghbawn, Ballymartin, and Longstone en route to winning the Shield. Players: Declan Fearon, Erikas Junokas, Luke Quinn, Luke Rafferty, Ethan Finnegan, Rory McRann,Shea Rafferty, Paul O'Rourke, Conor Kelly, Daniel O'Sullivan, Ryan Campbell, Mathew Speers Lucus Dicius, Logan Rooney, Shea Clare, Dylan Marsh, James McComiskey, Caiden McVeigh, Padraig Clarke, Conor Collins, Cormac McConville, Zac Shepcar, Jack Killen.

 

At the Kieran Dinsmore U12 Football Tournament in Warrenpoint, An Riocht emerged victorious with wins over Clonduff, CPN and Longstone.  Team: Cameron Gribben, Oran McAleenan, Tyler Shepcar, Oisin Davies, Conor McConville, Jayden White, Miceal Harper, Zac Curran, Daegan Cordell, Jack McDonald, Darragh McAlinden.

 

An Riocht Vice Chair Raymond Sloan attended a SportNI Designated Officer Safeguarding workshop at the House of Sport in Belfast on Tuesday.

 

An Riocht Health & Wellbeing Officer Barney McCartan and Social Initiative Co-ordinator Tom Cunningham will attend the Ulster GAA Volunteering Forum ‘Stay in the Game – Promoting lifelong wellbeing through sport’ at the Athletic Grounds, Armagh.

 

Keep Saturday 9th September free for an Irish Language workshop from 10am to 4pm, lunch included; no more excuses it couldn’t be handier, it’s at Dunavil!

 

The U8 Footballers will play in the Rostrevor Tournament on Saturday 9th September and the U10 Footballers will play in the Tullylish tournament on Saturday 16th September. The Senior Camogs will play in the Kilmacud Sevens on Saturday 9th September and the Senior Footballers will play in the Kilmacud Sevens on Saturday 16th September.

 

An Riocht have been invited to take part in the international Feile Peile na nOg (boys u14 football) from Friday 15th June to Sunday 17th June 2018. There will be training starting on Wednesday 6th September from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for the new U13 Football competition which will in essence be the U14 team for Feile.

 

There is an Ulster GAA Coaching Day in St Marks school on Saturday 23rd September, any coaches interested but not yet registered need to do so asap.

 

 

An Riocht Annual Dinner Awards will take place on Saturday 18th November at the Canal Court Hotel.
