The Schools Football at Dunavil was postponed

An Riocht had two teams in the P3/P4 Football Tournament in Shamrocks enjoying games with Rostrevor, Clonduff, Kilcoo, Aghaderg, Burren and Mayobridge. Thanks to the team mentors and parents who attended.

In the U16 Camogie Championship Quarter-final An Riocht beat Kilclief 8-8 to 1-5 and now play the winners of Ballycran v Shamrocks in the Semi-final.

An Riocht did not attend the P1/P6 Camogie Blitzes

At the U13 Football in Mayobridge, An Riocht went down by 7-16 to 3-13, great scoring from our lads, practice continues 6.30pm on Wednesday.

In the Senior Football An Riocht v Downpatrick, An Riocht won 1-6 to 0-7 completing a most successful September with three wins from three to move to virtual safety on the First Division League Table. Despite perfect underfoot and overhead conditions, scores were at a premium with both teams forcing their final effort. Wing back Conor Clarke advanced to open the scoring for An Riocht with Sean Bell replying for the visitors who went ahead in the fourteenth minute from a Conor McGrady free. Five minutes later Martin Clarke pointed from play from distance and signalled a better spell for the home side with Ronan McAlinden driving home a low shot to the Hoops net and tagging on a free before in added time Michael Magee from a placed ball left it 0-3 to 1-3.

An Riocht were wasteful at the start of the second half and against the run of play Conor McGrady was gifted a point following a poor home clearance. Conor Clarke popped up on the right to reply but midway through the half Conor McGrady and Ruairi Quinn pointed back to back to leave the minimum between the teams as Hoops enjoyed their best period but like their hosts their final shot left a lot to be desired and it stayed a one-point match. Then Ronan McAlinden and Conor McGrady exchanged frees with the result remaining in the balance until Ronan McAlinden landed a most difficult free in added time to give An Riocht breathing space and they held on for five additional minutes to claim the win.

Team: Stephen Doran, Conor Clarke 0-2, Paul Allen, John O’Rourke, Liam Rodgers, Martin Clarke 0-1, Conor Doyle, Kory Colgan, James Colgan, James Cunningham, Ronan McAlinden 1-3 (3f), Brian Rodgers, Paddy Gartland, Noel McArdle, Declan Doyle. Subs: Ryan Clarke, Michael Clarke, Dane Matthews, Joe McCartan.

An Riocht took part in the P5/P6 Floodlit Football Tournament in Ballymartin.

U11 Football An Riocht 1-9 Drumgath 6-6

On a breezy Sunday morning An Riocht Gaels lined out against a tough Drumgath side who in their last match against Shamrocks scored 7-12. The game started with Drumgath winning the toss and playing with a strong wind at their backs scoring 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game as we struggled to get out of our own half.  The visitors scored another 1-2 without reply before Shea Rafferty popped up with a point just before half time but from the resulting kick out Drumgath got the last score of the half leaving it 5-03 to 0-01. Within 2 minutes of the restart Luke Quinn struck a goal followed up by a free from Conor McConville and with 5 minutes gone Shaun Clarke made a telling run from half forward rounding two players and knocking the ball over the bar. Things were starting to look up when Daegan Cordell blasted home a goal and two more fine scores followed from Conor Mc Conville and Shaun Clarke before with time running out Luke Quinn added the final two points

Team Shaun Clarke, Paul O’Rourke, Luke Quinn (beag), Ethan Finnegan, Luke Rafferty, Luke Quinn (mór), Deagan Cordell, Rory McRann, Conor Kelly, Grazvydas Gricus, Shea Rafferty, Liam Cousins, Conor McConville, Oran McAleenan.
