Senior Camogs lost by five points in Castlewellan and 3-12 to 0-10 to Ballela

The Senior Camogs lost by five points in Castlewellan and 3-12 to 0-10 to Ballela in the rearranged fixture.  Versus Ballela Patrice Matthews opened the scoring with a long range point and in a lively first half Ballela were soon level. Colleen Fearon put An Riocht ahead again and came close to a goal with a ground stroke that whizzed just the wrong side of the post. And that was to be the story for An Riocht who failed to convert at least six good goal chances whereas the visitors conjured three goals from lesser chances. Minutes later Colleen Fearon had a free batted down in the square and the more alert Ballela backs swept the ball to safety. Carrie Killen made it three one before in the twentieth minute Ballela pounced for their first goal when after Joanna Sloan had made a great double save the clearance was not completed and the ball was returned to the net to put Ballela ahead for the first time in the match. Carrie Killen (2), Colleen Fearon and Sophie Bowater all replied with points but An Riocht spurned two decent goal chances before Ballela kicked in a second goal just before the break to take a 2-5 to 0-7 lead into the second half.

Ballela were the better team on the restart but for all that An Riocht still created opportunities and should have added at least three goals to the three Carrie Killen points they did register with a combination of the crossbar and indecisive finishing denying them. Ballela tagged on points at will before sealing the win with a last minute goal.

Senior Camogs beat Liatroim at Fontenoy Park by 3-6 to 1-9

The Senior Camogs beat Liatroim at Fontenoy Park by 3-6 to 1-9. An Riocht played with a strong wind in the first half and settled well, Tierna Donnan found the net from close range before Aine Fearon added a few frees and Emma Jane Magee bagged our second goal as we led at halftime by 2-3 to 0-2. Laitroim were strong up the middle with several ex county players and with the wind behind them shot some long range points to close the gap. Tierna Donnan added her second goal after a great high catch and Patrice Matthews pointed after a good run, being unfortunate not to have found the net. Liatroim kept coming, we dropped Aine Fearon back to protect the goal and when Liatroim were awarded a penalty, Joanna Sloan made a brilliant save and cleared her lines. Liatroim then goaled from a twenty metre free with the very last puck of the ball. Nicole Kelly did a brilliant marking job on Tin Mc Crickard, Tierna Donnan was very good as was the hard working Orla Mc Alinden.
