Camogie P1/P2, P3/P4, & P5/P6 Blitzes

The Camogie P1/P2, P3/P4, & P5/P6 Blitzes were moved to Dunavil at late notice and thanks to Joanna and her willing band of volunteers for making the day such a success - the referees, the guys with the car parking and those running the kitchen. Thanks too to everyone who helped out when the wee girl was unwell.

The day went really well with the rain keeping away for most of it. As always we had a great turn out of girls and with all the teams entered our girls got plenty of game time. Our U6s had lots of fun, they really got into the game and had some great scores and a great sense of team spirit! The U8s played really well showing a good improvement from the last tournament as did the U10s who won all but one of their games. The girls were chuffed to have parents and family members there supporting and cheering them on.

After the tournament our U12s went to the Carlingford Adventure Centre for an overnight residential where they took part in a night walk on the Saturday evening followed on Sunday by kayaking, water trampoline, pier jumping and then lazer quest in the afternoon. A great weekend was had by all!

Wednesday’s wee Camogie practice

Big turnout required at Wednesday’s wee Camogie practice ahead of the U6, U8 and U10 Blitzes on Saturday so numbers can be confirmed for travelling.

Mum & Me’ Camogie

The ‘Mum & Me’ Camogie continues on Wednesdays from 6.30pm while the children do their own practice, well done to those who have come forward to get involved and it’s not too late for others to join in.

Underage camogs who travelled to Portaferry

The P1/P2, P3/P4, and P5/P6 Camogs were in Portaferry on Saturday for their monthly blitz with a large attendance of coaches and parents accompanying the girls.

All 3 teams played four / five matches each allowing all the girls to get plenty of game time. The girls showed continued improvement and played well. We hope to organise a few friendly games before the July blitz to build on this. The players were: Eimear Sloan, Lauren Marshe, Cliona Finnegan, Caoimhe Hynes, Shannon Marie Morgan, Mya Cousins, Anna Quinn, Annalise White, Bobbi Jo Campbell, Nicole Curran, Mya Campbell, Emma Harper, Cara O' Neil, Annie Mc Aleenan, Ellie Cousins, Zara Gannon, Ciara Fearon, Ella Small, Niamh Mc Donald, Skyler White, Amy Harper, Eireann Phillips Higgins, Mya Harper, Caitlin Mc Donald, Orlaigh Small, Sarah and Grace Hughes.

U6, U8 and U10 Camogs travelled to Ballycran

The U6, U8 and U10 Camogs travelled to Ballycran on Saturday with a good number of parents travelling. Thanks to the coaches for giving up their day, don’t forget ‘mum and me camogie’ at 6.30pm on Wednesday, followed by Camogie Academy launch.

The girls had a great day with lots of fun, all girls got to play and played brilliantly. We have seen a huge improvement in skill from last year and the girls' dedication and practice is paying off. Our U6 played 6 matches and won all 6, our U8 played 4 matches and won 2 out of the 4 while U10 played 3 matches and won 2.  Due to arriving late due to a tailback at the ferry we had to play all our matches one after the other with no breaks and despite this the girls performed really well with great scores, smart midfield work and strong defence.

Player of the day awards went to Amy Harper, Anna Bolton and Aoife Rooney with Subway Golden Tickets going to Grace Hughes and Ella Small.
