An Riocht runners up in South Down Minor 7s

An Riocht runners up to Mayobridge in the South Down Minor 7s - May 2013

Mayobridge minor footballers won a closely contested in the South Down Minor 7s title. Only six clubs participated, however the competition was played in a competitive but fair manner. The teams were divided into two sections with the top two going forward to the semi-finals. Section one featured Clonduff, Warrenpoint and An Riocht. Clonduff emerged winners on score difference from An Riocht who emerged runners up.

Section two featured Mayobridge, Rostrevor and Longstone.

In this group Rostrevor and Mayobridge emerged as winners and runnerup respectively. In the semi finals Mayobridge defeated clonduff and An Riocht defeated a fancied Rostrevor.

Unusually it was the two group runners up who met in the final and it took extra time to separate them. In the semi darkness it was Mayobridge who ran out winners by two points and who go on to take on East Down winners Castlewellan in the minor Feis finals.
