An Riocht Minor Footballers - Past News 2014

U18 Football Saul v An Riocht

The Minor Footballers won in Saul by 2-12 to 1-11. A goal down inside three minutes An Riocht hit back to score five points and take a narrow lead before a scoreless second quarter allowed the home side edge back in front by 1-7 to 0-5 at half time. At the three quarter mark despite a Ronan White goal we trailed by the minimum 1-8 to 1-9 and during the final quarter the teams were level three times. An Riocht kept in it thanks to a fantastic Stephen Doran save one on one with five minutes remaining and won it with a sixtieth minute Conor Clarke goal.

Stephen Doran, Ronan White, Deaglan Morgan, Stephen McDowell and Liam Rodgers were all outstanding for An Riocht. Michael O’Rourke was a classic target man up front and Darragh Campbell had a great night from frees. Ben Rafferty and Jack Walker worked well together to good effect at centre field while Aaron Eastwood and Andrew Harper proved tight man markers in defence.

The next game is on Saturday 24th May in Ballyholland.

Team: S Doran, A Eastwood, K Colgan, A Harper, L Rodgers, S McDowell, A Sloan 0-1, B Rafferty, J Walker, D Morgan 0-2, JP Farrell, R White 1-0, C Clarke 1-1, M O’Rourke 0-1, D Campbell 0-7. Subs C Morgan, T Sloan, D Matthews, M Rooney.
