Second lose opening league game

* On Sunday morning the Premier Reserve Football Leagues new season kicked off, and first up for An Riocht was local rivals Rostrevor at Dunavil. A Paddy Cole free-kick in the first minute was as good as it got for the home team as Rostrevor dominated from start to finish, Joe Fegan, Conor Doyle & Richie Reynolds pointed, and a great block from Paul Sherry denied Rostrevor a goal 5 minutes in. An Riocht seen plenty of the ball but passes not finding their targets enabled Rostrevor to break at pace.

Three quick points from Conor Doyle(2) and Dermot Mackin, and a well taken goal from the inform Doyle opened up an 8 point lead in Rostrevor’s favour. Michael Trainor and James Cunningham added points either side of a Joe Fegan point left the halftime score An Riocht 0-3 Rostrevor 1-07. Points from John Fegan and Turlach Murphy increased the visitors lead before Diarmuid Flanagan and Michael Trainor replied for An Riocht. Conor Doyle added 2 stylish points for Rostrevor but Paddy Cole and Kieran McVeigh showed An Riocht had some fight left, but again passing became a problem and Rostrevor capitalized with points on the break from Joe Fegan, Richie Reynolds, John Fegan, Kevin McGrath and another goal from the classy Conor Doyle gave the score line a much deserved gloss in the visitors favour, An Riocht 0-08 Rostrevor 2-15. Next up for the Seconds is a tough game away to Kilcoo on Sunday at 2pm.

An Riocht Team: Brendan Allen, Ryan Clarke, Jerry-Lee Cordell, Aidan O’Hanlon, Paul Sherry, Michael Trainor, Michael Clarke, James Cunningham, Paddy Cole, Diarmuid Flanagan, Paddy Gartland, Ryan White, Conor Cole, Kieran McVeigh, Aidan McVeigh.
