The Senior Reserves claimed their first 2 points of the season with a hard fought win over Carryduff

The Senior Reserves claimed their first 2 points of the season with a hard fought win over Carryduff at Dunavil on a fine summers evening on Sunday. Carryduffs Paul O’Neil got the first point on the game in the 1st minute before the Cole brothers turned on the style, Conor pointing from distance and Paddy rippling the Visitors net. Jonathon Henry pointed for the visitors before An Riocht stepped it up a gear with Paddy Cole (0-01), Sean Clarke(0-01) Rory Cunningham (0-01) and Conor Cole (0-02) putting the home side in control.

Paul O’Neil and Tony McMahon pointed before Conor McCormick beat An Riochts Brendan Allen with a fine finish. Andy Moorehead and Tony McMahon pointed to tie things up but a Paddy Cole point meant An Riocht led by the minimum at the break.

An Riocht started the second half brightly and 3 points in as many minutes from Rory Cunningham, Conor and Paddy Cole put the home side four points in the lead. Jonathon Henry pointed for the visitors as they tried tirelessly to get back into the game, but Conor Cole and Rory Cunningham pointed, and that man again, Joe McCartan, netted his second goal in as many games, as his ‘Fox in the Box’ reputation continues. Tony McMahon (0-01) and Tony Moorhead (0-02) brought the score line down to 2 points but some resolute   defending meant An Riocht held on for the win.

An Riocht 2-12 Carryduff 1-12. Best for An Riocht were Jerry-Lee Cordell and Paul Sherry in defence, Sean Clarke and Darren White around the midfield area, some excellent high catching from both. And up front, Paddy and Conor Cole did most of the damage.

An Riocht Team:

Brendan Allen, Jerry-Lee Cordell, Michael Clarke, Darren Doyle, Paul Sherry, Aidan O’Hanlon, Shane Sloan, Conor Cole, Darren White, Gerard Keenan, Paddy Cole, Sean Clarke, Aidan McVeigh, Rory Cunningham, Ryan White. Subs: Miceal White, Joe McCartan..
