Reserve Football Kilcoo v An Riocht

An Riocht Reserves showed eight changes for their second game in three days at Kilcoo and started slowly going two nil behind and struggling to get the ball out in the face of a strong wind. Eventually An Riocht got on top with John O’Rourke commanding at full back and Damian Sherry and Sean McArdle influential between the fifties and led by the minimum five points to four at the break.

An Riocht were much too lateral on the restart and Kilcoo got on top; Sean McArdle took one off the line and Brendan Allen beat another effort away. The home goal did arrive but the next score was a like one for An Riocht and with seven minutes remaining An Riocht led by one, 1-8 to 1-7. However a lack of urgency and poor handling gave the initiative back to the home side and they fired over six unanswered points in as many minutes for a 1-13 to 1-8 win.

Team: B Allen, S Corr, J O’Rourke, R Clarke, J McCartan, M Clarke, B Rodgers 1-0, B Sloan, G Keenan, D Sherry 0-1, J Cunningham 0-1, S McVeigh, A McVeigh, D White 0-2, R McAlinden 0-4. Sub S McArdle.
