Reserve Football home v Liatroim

The Reserve footballers drew with Liatroim at Dunavil (though the referee said we won by two!). Joe McCartan swung over a beauty to get us underway and though 14 man Fontenoys grabbed a goal in reply further points from half backs Declan Clarke and Sean McArdle made it four three with ten minutes played.

However we failed to utilise the extra man and were under steady pressure for the next ten minutes with the visitors scoring an uninterrupted 2-5 before Nathan McComiskey hit our fourth point and a Liam Rodgers goal meant the entire half back line was on the score sheet. Nine points down, despite the wind on our backs and Liatroim now reduced to 13 men we still conspired to make heavy work of getting back into the match, Liatroim scored back to back points before a James Reilly goal dragged us within four of Liatroim and a Michael O’Rourke point in the fifty sixth minute levelled the match, 2-12 to 3-9.

Battling Liatroim went back in front and looked to be heading for an unlikely victory before James Reilly got An Riocht back on terms in the final moments.
