Trocaire IFC Quarter-final: An Riocht 3-15 St Johns 1-14

Goals win games and much more clinical Kingdom stole through the Johnnies lines to plunder three whereas St Johns never really convinced when opportunities arose for them.

An Riocht were flying and 1-6 to 0-2 ahead, Martin Clarke having crashed a free in off the underside of the bar, when Declan Doyle received a second yellow card in the fifteenth minute.

St Johns made immediate use of their numerical advantage with the next three points but once the Mourne men rejigged their line out they were soon in control again and Rory Cunningham came in on the end of a fine move to round the keeper and score their second goal.

At the break An Riocht led 2-7 to 0-9.

Though St Johns opened the scoring on the restart, An Riocht were soon into their stride and outscored their opponents seven points to three before Michael Clarke flicked home their third goal.

Chris McKay nabbed a late consolation goal for St Johns but by then An Riocht were emptying their bench with an eye to Saturday’s semi-final.
