U16: An Riocht 1-4 Carryduff 4-9

The U16 Footballers after three games on the road, graced the playing field at Dunvail competitively for the first time this season, as the took on a talented Carryduff outfit,  looking to extend their unbeaten start to the league. Carryduff started brightly and were soon in front when Nicholas Turkington’s free kick found its way between the sticks. Carryduff looked dangerous on the attack and it took a brilliant save from An Riocht Steven Doran to deny Shea Rielly a goal. Shortly after Turkington added another Two free kicks before a fine Kory Colgan block denied him the chance of a goal. Shea Rielly soon did find the net with a thunderbolt to the top corner of the net. An Riocht settled momentarily and registered their first score of the game through Darragh Campbell, before Ronan White added another. Just as it looked like we had a game on our hands, Rielly added another goal to deflate the improving An Riocht. Turkington added another free before Michael O’Rouke was fouled in the square, and stepped up to slot in the penalty to leave the half time score, An Riocht 1-2 Carryduff 2-4

Carryduff started the second half the brighter and increased their lead to Seven with Ryan Murray and the inform Turkington adding scores, before a great save from Patrick Rice denied An Riocht a way back into the game. The next Two scores effectively finished the game with Conor Rooney pointing before Ciaran Kearney netted from close range. A Darragh Campbell free kick was cancelled out by Aaron Dotherty. Campbell again pointed before Nicholas Turkington beat the out coming Steven Doran to poke the ball to the net, then fired over the ball again just as the final whistle sounded. An Riocht 1-4 Carryduff 4-9

The score line did not do An Riocht any justice as the boys played hard and contested every ball, and once they get a few players back from injury, they should get back to wining ways again. Best for An Riocht was Ben and Jack Rafferty at the back, Jacks Walker caught some great balls in midfield while up front, Darragh and Michael tried had.
