An Riocht U16 Footballers - Past News 2013

U16 Football Bryansford v An Riocht

A ten goal thriller at St Patricks Park Newcastle finished with An Riocht deservedly on the right side of the score line, 5-15 to 5-9. After falling behind early on An Riocht hit back with a Conor Small goal giving them the lead. Some of the passing from An Riocht was of the highest order, visionary and accurate, but for all that the home side battled back with two goals to lead by 2-5 to 1-4 after twenty minutes.

Thomas Sloan had hard luck making two fine saves but the loose ball fell kindly to the Ford forwards on both occasions. Then two late goals from full forward Jack Rafferty who took the ball first time and powered through were added to by an injury time strike from Darragh Campbell and An Riocht went in leading 4-7 to 3-5 at the break.

A superbly struck penalty from Stephen Flood on the restart moved the visitors into the comfort zone and with points exchanged at either end Ford failed to bridge the gap. Two late goals improved the look of the score board but by then An Riocht were safely home.
