U10 Football Longstone v An Riocht

The U10 Footballers won in Longstone.

P5/P6 Footballers visited Atticall in the Mourne League

The P5/P6 Footballers visited Atticall in the Mourne League and participated in the Jim Mulholland Cup on Saturday.

In Atticall the boys started slowly, trailing by 2 early goals within 2 minutes of play before they got on the score board though a nice point from Conor McConville only for Atticall to reply with 2 points of their own to leave Atticall leading by 7 coming up to half time. Conor McConville got on the score sheet again with a neat goal making it 2-2 to 1-1 in favour of Attical at half time. At the start of the second half and playing down the hill Conor McConville grabbed a second goal to put just one point between them only for Atticall to grab another point to put 2 in it again. Then the lads seem to get second wind and also the next 5 points though Jayden White 0-1 and Darragh McAlinden 0-4 leaving the score 2-06 to 2-03 in favour of the Kingdom but back game Attical with 2 goals and a point leaving the score 2-6 to 4-4 in favour of Atticall and with only minutes on the clock. Wee Luke Quinn made a telling block and Darragh McAlinden picked up the loose ball up and kicked it long up to big Luke Quinn who passed to Ethan Finnegan who then got the return pass which Luke buried into the net; with time running Luke Quinn had a quick shot at goal only for the keeper to save it although he was unlucky as the ball landed at the feet of Oran McAleenan who slotted the ball home before the game ended with Atticall getting the last score of the game to leave An Riocht winners by a point, 4-6 to 4-5.

There were 22 lads that turned out in Atticall with all of them getting at least 15 minutes of football. Each of them should be very proud of themselves with the way they played football, and also with their behaviour, your club is very proud of you.

Team Luke Rafferty, Deagan Cordell, Luke Quinn, Zac Curran, Jack McDonald, Luke Quinn, Darragh McAlinden, Conor McConville, Jayden White, Ethan Finnegan, Oran McAleenan.

Best for the Kingdom were Jack McDonald in defence and Conor McConville in attack not forgetting the rest of the lads who all played their part.
