An Riocht / KYC Notes - 20th JUNE

The Club is holding a 24 Hour Spinathon at Dunavilin aid of PIPS and Southern Area Hospice and club development from 11pm on Friday 1st July to 11pm on Saturday 2nd July, a lot of the one hour slots are taken but we want to fully complete them which would raise a minimum of £5,000 so please give an hour, call in to the club and put your name up on the big board, all abilities welcome, it’s a bit of fun in aid of a good cause. There will be a coffee morning, bouncy castles, carnival side shows and a rodeo bull on the Saturday with the evening finishing with a Country Music Jamboree.

 


 

The Final Community Pharmacy event took place on Wednesday past and all the participants commented on how useful the programme was over the past months; thanks to everyone who facilitated or participated.


 

Kingdom YC/An Riocht GAA Volunteer Recognition event took place last Thursday when Fr Hennity presented ‘Thank You’ Volunteer Pins to the volunteers present. Any club volunteer who was unable to make it on Thursday can collect their pin from the office. Our organisations could not operate without volunteers, they are the local heroes who help us provide vital services to this community, their dedication and hard work deserves to be recognised in this way.

TOPS Activity Training Thursday 16 June

TOPS sports sessions use the contents of the TOPS sports bag to show how to run fun and easy sports and activity sessions. This is a fun practical workshop full of ideas for games, sports and activities. The course is very hands-on so you'll need to be ready to take part in a variety of games, activities & sports. The course covers games that can be played by a wide range of age levels and are suitable for small groups or big groups.

Introduction to Volunteering for Summer Schemes 29th & 30th June and 1st July

This programme enables young people to be recruited and trained as volunteers and placed with youth workers to assist with Summer Schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for young people wishing to enhance their employability skills, gain valuable work experience and receive a recognised award.

This course will cover the following broad topic areas: introduction to youth work; roles of volunteers; why volunteer; guidelines for safe working; activities to use with young people; placement opportunities.

Minor Games Wednesday 29 June

To gain hands on experience of various games for young people.

In the U14 Footballers Raffle the prizes went to Orla Flanagan, Barry McCartan and Fidelma Mackey. Thanks to everyone who supported the draw.

KYC has registered with Jobs & Benefits to offer work experience as a Youth Support Worker assistant at Dunavil.

 

KYC has a part-time vacancy for a Youth Support Outreach Worker based at Dunavil (9 hours a week), details from the Club or from Kilkeel Jobs & Benefits Office.

 

There is a one-day workshop ‘Managing Difficult People’ coming up in Belfast on Friday 24th June, if anyone is interestedlet us know.

 

We have 23 members in the Kingdom Cleaning Crew that is divided into 4 groups. Each Thursday evening for 1 hour a group goes in and gives the club a really good going over, everyone doing 1 hour per month. It has made such a great difference to the club, but we need more help. If you would like to join the team, please let us know. This Thursday 2nd June it’s the turn of Pauline Mc Keown, Lorraine Connor, Aine Donnan, Sharon Rice, Sharon Murnaghan, Maureen Greenan.
