Down v Dublin

Down GAA would be delighted to have as many underage teams attend the Down v Dublin game on 12th March and would be very happy to assist with group applications from Clubs/Schools. Applications must be in asap and they will then issue tickets for each child and the required number of adults. Under 16s are free and they will accommodate two free adults with every ten children. Additional adults will be invoiced to the Club at a cost of £8 each as opposed to match day cost of £12. Each person entering the ground must have a ticket.

Proposed South Down Leagues

An Open Meeting of the South Down Board will take place on Tuesday 15th March at 7.30pm in Mayobridge GAC. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the format of the upcoming South Down leagues and championships and it would be particularly useful if each club youth officer or a juvenile team mentor could attend. Clubs can send two delegates.

The Pharmacy Project for older people restarted last week with a review of the pre-Christmas activities and some ideas for the remaining five nights. The next session is from 7pm to 8pm on Wednesday 9th March and is open to everyone to come along, it’s all very informal.

A Red Cross First-aid course has been arranged at Dunavil for Monday 7th March from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, places are limited so book yours asap.

 

The Adult Footballers and Camogs have arranged Lip Sync Battle for Saturday 19th March.

 

With the new kitchen facilities almost ready, an opportunity has arisen to complete a ‘Cook it’ training programme.

‘Cook it’is a Community Nutrition Education Programme that promotes healthy eating, good food hygiene and enhances cooking skills. It has been produced by the Public Health Agency for use in Northern Ireland and is aimed at groups where cost is a consideration. It is delivered by facilitators who are recruited from community and voluntary organisations and trained by the ‘Cook it’dietitian and is a practical programme that can be used by many groups.

‘Cook it’facilitator trainingis informal, interactive and practical and covers food hygiene, principles of healthy eating, using the ‘Eatwell Plate’, using the ‘Cook it’ pack and displays, andexperiencing a ‘Cook it’ session.Anyone interested contact the club asap, places are limited.

 

Other training opportunities include Leadership in Youth Work for Young People Level 1, Youth Trainee Leadership Level 2, Outreach & Detached Youth Work, Rescue Emergency First Aid, Promoting Positive Behaviour. If interested in any of these or just want to know more contact the club asap.
