The annual Sports Fun Day took place on Saturday at Dunavil with the petting farm a big attraction. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Cancer Focus Man Van and the Kingdom to Cooley Charity Cycle

The Cancer Focus Man Van and the Kingdom to Cooley Charity Cycle in aid of Southern Area Hospice and Club Development took place on Saturday.

The weather was kind, the participants enthusiastic and the helpers willing, which all combined to make a most memorable experience for those involved.

The cyclists began to gather from 7am and were soon allocated start times and as the day progressed everyone was surprised at how quickly they all covered the 110k route.

Thanks to JMC Cycles Dromintee for their assistance with the launch; Mourne Cycles Newcastle for their help with running repairs; Cooley Kickams for their hospitality before the return journey; the stewards whose meticulous attention to detail ensured there were no upsets on the day; the sponsors who contributed (all outstanding sponsored money should be handed in this week); and the cyclists without whom none of it could have happened!

Regular cycle runs are planned over the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays; visit the facebook page for updates.

Meantime while almost 200 cyclists and support staff were on the road the Cancer Focus Man Van was set up at Dunavil providing health checks and personal assessments for a steady stream of clients over a four hour period; thanks to Sandra and Linda for their attendance.

The next big thing at the Kingdom will be the 10k & 5k Family Fun Trek Challenge on Sunday 24th August; anyone willing to help with the organisation should contact the club asap as arrangements need to take shape sharply.
