An Ríocht U16 camogs faced a strong Castlewellan side in their opening league fixture on Tuesday past in Dunavil.
An Ríocht dominated the possession in the first half but failed to convert several chances in front of the sticks. Some excellent free taking from Castlewellan kept the town side firmly in the game.
Mya Campbell won a number of frees from running straight at the Castlewellan defence which kept the An Ríocht side ticking over.
3 goals from Cliona Finnegan, Annalise White and Grace Hughes were well taken and certainly lifted the An Ríocht camogs in terms of the effort they produced in the second half.
There was excellent hooking, blocking and tracking back from the midfield and defence but Castlewellan edged past An Ríocht in the last ten minutes with a handful of well taken points from play.
Next up for An Ríocht is Mayobridge away.
