Arizona State University Lacrosse team, the Sun Devils, called into Dunavil during the week on their tour of Ireland for a spot of camogie and it was not really surprising that these elite athletes picked up the caman game so quickly and thoroughly enjoyed their two hour session. Thanks to everyone who helped with this venture.
Jim Mulholland An Ríocht Youth Officer died, aged 46, on Friday 31st May 2002. Jim was widely known throughout Ulster as at the forefront of the clubs youth policy which had seen An Ríocht come to prominence within the county, the province and nationally with Feile Peil titles in 1998 and 2001. During the nineties Jim managed u12, u14, u16 and u18 football teams to County Championship successes and just three weeks before his death he had guided the u14 team to the County Feile Peil na nOg title. Jim’s own playing career ended prematurely due to injury. As an u16 footballer in 1971 he won County League & Championship titles and an incredible 18 seven-a-side tournaments. In 1973 already playing senior, he won an u18 League title and in 1978 was the goal scorer on the last day of the season as the seniors won their league. Jim also hurled and won an Intermediate Championship in 1981. In the early eighties he added several Reserve League and Fr Davies Shield medals and when Jim was forced to call time on his playing career he emersed himself in putting something back into the club most notably as an underage football coach but also as minibus driver for countless camogie, hurling and football teams. The Jim Mulholland Festival of Football is a fitting testament to his memory.
This Week’s Results:

The u14 Camogs lost v Bredagh 3-4 to 1-0.

The JB Sheehan & Frank McKnight Camogie/Hurling Schools Cups took place at Dunavil on Friday, thanks to the participants and organisers.
In the Senior Football home v Saul, An Riocht dropped our first home points on a score of 0-11 to 0-10. So at the half way stage we are sitting fourth on the table, two points behind the leaders, a position we could not have imagined coming from the Third Division. This was a much better performance than the previous week and but for a better bounce of the ball we could have taken both points but Friday was always about performance and that could not have been much better. Match ball sponsored by Hugh J O’Boyle.
The Jim Mulholland p5/p6 Festival of Football took place at Dunavil on Saturday, thanks to the participating clubs and the club volunteers.
