Oak Knoll All Girls School from New Jersey visited Dunavil during the week for a spot of camogie
coaching and the American Lacrosse and Field Hockey players proved adept at the caman game. An Ríocht Camogie Coaching Officer Thomas Sloan made a small presentation to the visitors.
Ahead of their trip to the All-Ireland Camogie Finals in Croke Park on 11 th August, the girls are invited to mark Camogie’s 120-year celebration by taking part in the Camogie 120 Banner Competition which will see one lucky winner receiving a prize of €1,000 for their club. Entrants must design a banner to be displayed in the stand in Croke Park, which contains the 120 logo and the hashtags #OurGameOurPassion and #Camogie120.
This Week’s An Ríocht Results:
In the u18 Football League semi-final home v Liatroim, An Riocht went out in a penalty shoot-out 3-14 to 6-14 after the teams were tied at the end of normal time.
In u16 Football An Riocht had two away games winning 5-18 to 4-6 in Tullylish and drawing 4-7 to 2-13 inWarrenpoint.
In the u14 Camogie Championship An Riocht lost 10-13 to 3-3 away in Portaferry.
The u14 LGFA team were in action at home winning 6-5 to 4-4 v St Michaels. The visitors didn’t take long to take a lead with a couple of goals in the early stages. An Ríocht girls settled and began to get a hold in the game scoring 1-3 before the break with a Keevie Cordell point the pick of the scores. The defence got on top and laid the foundation of an amazing comeback. Grace, Ava and Lara picked off some great scores and An Ríocht saw out the match winning by seven points with all twenty-two girls taking part. Thanks to St.Michaels for the game and the referee, Colm.
The Senior Footballers lost away in Liatroim by 2-13 to 0-11. Match Ball sponsored by Neil McVeigh.
In the Premier Reserve Football Championship An Ríocht lost v Loughinisland 1-7 to 2-9
The juvenile Camogs p1 to p6 all had challenge games with Longstone during the week.
The juvenile Hurlers took part in a blitz in Clonduff.
The u14 Footballers participated in a Owen McEvoy tournament in Kilcoo.
The u12 Camogs hosted Carryduff as the Go Games league resumed.
The u12 Footballers had games away v Mayobridge, while the u12 Gaels were home v Shamrocks.
