Time is running out to purchase a Down Draw ticket, our biggest annual fundraiser and is key to ensuring our future success on and off the field. Without these funds we wouldn’t be able to provide all the activities and opportunities that we do, particularly for our young people. For £10 per month can you help?

Specsavers in Newry have teamed up with An Ríocht in an initiative to reconnect older and more vulnerable people within the GAA community. As part of the initiative the Newry branch provided a bursary fund to An Ríocht GAA Social Initiative group to the Down v Offaly game at Páirc Esler.

The u16 Camogs lost 3-4 to 2-10 at home to Castlewellan in their opening league fixture on Tuesday past at Dunavil. An Ríocht dominated possession in the first half but failed to convert several chances in front of the posts while some excellent free taking from the visitors kept them in the game. Mya Campbell won a number of frees from running straight at the Castlewellan defence which kept the An Ríocht side ticking over. Goals from Cliona Finnegan, Annalise White and Grace Hughes were well taken and lifted An Ríocht in the second half. There was some expert hooking, blocking and tracking back but Castlewellan edged past An Ríocht in the last ten minutes with a handful of well taken points from play to snatch the result. Team: Annie McAleenan, Alex Donnelly, Ella Small, Olivia Fegan, Katie Rose Rooney, Sarah Hughes, Lily McConville, Olivia Sloan, Shayna Sloan, Mya Campbell 0-1, Cliona Finnegan 1-2, Tia Maddocks, Grace Hughes 1-0, Annalise White 1-1, Cara O’Neill, Orlaigh Small, Kayleigh Donaghy.

The Senior Football league began with a narrow away defeat in Rostrevor by 1-13 to 0-13.
