An Ríocht Under 14 Football – It’s been a fantastic week for our U14 lads, full of hard work, heart, and
serious resilience. In Division 2, the team took on St Paul’s in tough, wet conditions at Dunavil on
Saturday. It was a real battle, and although the result didn’t go our way, the lads didn’t drop their
heads. They came back on Monday with a brilliant, honest training session that set the tone for the
rest of the week. That spirit came through loud and clear on Wednesday in a local derby away to
Longstone. The home side started strong, hitting a few early goals, but our lads rallied and cut the
gap to a single point by half-time. After the break, An Ríocht took full control. Captain Ryan and Corey
led by example, but every player on the pitch stepped up—winning tackles, pressing hard, and linking
up well in attack. The team’s hunger, grit, and togetherness shone through, and they ran out 10-point
winners in a dominant second-half performance. In Division 6, our development team continues to
impress. On Wednesday, they faced Ballyholland and took the game to them right from the first
whistle. The lads played tough, direct football with loads of strong moves and too many standout
performers to name. Another big win and another step forward for this committed group. With 30
players between both squads giving their all, the progress is there for everyone to see. Huge thanks
to the parents and supporters for your continued backing.
On Monday morning our U10 girls travelled to Croke Park for the LGFA Activity Day. What an
amazing experience for the girls to represent County Down along with neighbours Ballymartin. The
team, coaches and parents had an early start, but it was worth it and the girls played fantastically! To
watch the team run out and play at GAA HQ will live long in the memories of the girls, their families
and their proud coaches.
Well done to An Ríocht camogs Catherine, Keevie and Erin who took part in the player development
programme in Castlewellan last weekend.
